ORANGE CAT WHO CAN’T MEOW FINDS THE MOST POLITE WAY TO ASK HIS HUMANS FOR ATTENTION

As a cat mom, you know that your feline friend often relies on sounds to communicate with you. Sometimes it’s a meow (or a series of them when they’re feeling chatty), and other times it’s the soothing purrs they make to express their gratitude for your pets and cuddles, letting you know they love you. On occasion, though, they may produce unmistakably angry sounds to signal their displeasure with the situation.

But what happens when a cat can’t meow? Apparently, they find a way to improvise, as demonstrated by an orange kitty in a TikTok video. This clever cat may not be able to meow like others, but he’s figured out how to communicate with his humans nonetheless.

In the video shared by @sanvincenteblvd, we meet an orange cat named Spaghetti (perfect name, by the way) who has gotten creative to compensate for his inability to meow.

“Spaghetti doesn’t know how to meow, so he does this to get our attention,” his owner explains, showing Spaghetti stretching up on his hind legs to gently tap the shoulder of the person sitting on the couch.

It’s incredibly clever, but what I really love about this video—and Spaghetti himself—is how polite he is. He gives the most gentle little tap, followed by his eager yet patient expression as he waits for some pets and cuddles.

It’s almost as if he’s saying “excuse me,” but in a distinctly cat-like way!

What’s really wild is that there were several people in the comments with both dogs and cats who share Spaghetti’s silence and have figured out how to do this, too – who would have thought?!

Why Do Some Cats Not Meow?

As The Spruce Pets noted, meowing isn’t a behavior cats typically use to communicate with each other; it’s primarily for interacting with us.

Some adult cats just aren’t big meowers, so you might not hear much from them. It’s not that they can’t meow; it’s simply not part of their personality. Essentially, if a cat doesn’t want to do something, they won’t!

However, if your cat suddenly stops meowing after having done it regularly, it’s important to consult your vet. This change can indicate various conditions, such as hyperthyroidism, laryngeal paralysis, or even cancer, so it’s best to have your kitty checked out as soon as possible!

Spaghetti just isn’t a big meower, and that’s perfectly fine. He’s found his own way to get the pets he needs!
