Fearless felines or mans best friend?

The debate between cats or dogs is always ongoing, but one study suggests that New Hampshire residents have a preference for kitties.

Time2play surveyed 3,045 cat and dog owners across the country to find out which U.S. states prefer cats to dogs, and vice versa. The average age of respondents was 38.6 years.

Even though cats are the most popular in New Hampshire, the country as a whole is actually split down the middle. Out of the 50 states, 25 were found to prefer cats, while the other 25 found to be in favor of dogs.

In New England, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut and Massachusetts were found to favor cats with Rhode Island and Vermont favoring dogs. Populous states including New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida were also found to include more dog lovers than can lovers.

Another aspect of owning pets that this study explored was the rate cat and dog owners posted their pets on social media. But what owners do it the most?

The study found that 53.2% said they post pet photos online, with 46.8% saying they don’t. Of those who said yes, 56.8% were dog people, and 43.2% were cat people.

The data also revealed that the average that posts their pet does so twice per month and millennials are post about their pets on social media the most, followed by generation Z.
